Real Estate, Real Fun in Real Time!
Jody Hill, Starting in the mid-nineties, I was watching TV after I sent all our kids off to school when a strange thought came to me, "get into real estate." I was wondering if I was losing my mind. We had just moved to Cheyenne Wyoming and was getting settled in our new home. The thought became stronger and louder. It took me about an hour to take it seriously. I headed to the library to pick up as many books about real estate. However, I picked up books about becoming a real estate agent. What did I know? You see, I thought because we moved every three years (due to employment) I knew enough. I feel stupid to admit, I didn't know there was anything else dealing with real estate other than moving or becoming a real estate agent. I called my cousin who had been an agent for the last 15 years. I knew I could ask him the hard questions, or so I thought. My main concern, could I do this with an active family with four children ranging from 9-15 years? I did it, jumped in with both feet. I applied for a Real Estate school and obtained my license in a matter of two weeks. I was excited I passed the test! However, I had no idea in 10 short months I would be entering the role of sole bread winner for our family. Believe me, I was feeling the pressure. In less than a year, my husband was asked to relocate with the company or be let go. Our kids were beginning the high school years and we decided to walk away from a career of 16 years in food service. We were tired of moving and choose to stay put. Crazy I know! He went back to school in a completely different field of study, exercise physiology, to become a personal trainer. During his 5 years of college our kids were graduating along with him, kids from high school, him with his different degrees. After nine years of being a real estate agent we were faced with a family decision. We decided to move one last time to Utah, were we now reside. Our Mom's were aging and knew we would be the ones responsible to assist them in their later years. In Utah, I entered the Title/Escrow field. It was an easy transition but it's always difficult to begin something new. It was during that time I was the one printing out the big checks and handing them to real estate investors. I kept wondering why I didn't know how to do this with my background. I asked around for someone to teach me how to do what they were doing. Not one person gave me the time of day. It was so frustrating but I knew there was a way in. I was determined to find it! Once I found Renatus, I knew things were different. Finally, a formal education. In one week of college I learned more than I ever did in my career. I moved forward with confidence. It was the first time I really felt safe investing. Instead of following individuals involved in real estate schemes who ended up broke or worse, in jail. Getting educated was one of the best decisions I ever made. Without a doubt it changed my life. Within six months after I began taking classes, I left Corporate America to start my own business in Real Estate Investing. Since being a Real Estate Investor more than five years, overcoming the terror I felt working my first deal, owning multiple properties without it ruining my life, I created Team Money Mama to pay it forward exponentially. Our team creates synergy, impacting personal financial outcomes with long term wealth through education. You are invited to join us, get your first deal under your belt, then it's simply Wash, Rinse, Repeat as many times as you want. My mission statement: "I guide and direct others to live life earning 6 figure incomes, on their terms and in their timeframe so they can be more and do more for those they love the most" My prior education consists of a college education in psychology. I have a passion for my family. I have been happily married for 32 years, we have two boys, two girls and ten grandchildren. I enjoy jogging, reading, spending time with my grandchildren and being the CEO of my own company. "What you don't know is costing you thousands of dollars."
